Kroger and Publix (again!)

I went to Publix again (one more time before the sale ended!!!) with a friend this time, and so that I could use a $5 off of a $30 purchase that my mother-in-law gave me. It was about to expire, and I am so glad that I was able to take advantage of it! Then I hit Kroger yesterday to pick up a few deals there.

Publix:

Progresso soup BOGO $2.29 x4
– $1/4
Golden Grahams Cereal Bars on sale for $2 x2
– $.50/1 coupon (doubled x2)
Muellers pasta BOGO $1.25 x20

Publix great north dried beans $2.29
Sundown B6 vitamins $3.59 x4
– $3/1 Publix coupon x4
– $2/1 coupon x1
– $1/1 coupon x3
Kelloggs Frosted Flakes (for my post-surgery husband!) $4.79
Talenti Gelato BOGO $4.69 x5
– $1/1 x5
Skittles king size $1.39 (again for my husband!)

– $5/$30 coupon

Total before coupons/sales = $86.08
Total after coupons/sales = $.64 or 99.3% savings!!!

I even threw in the Skittles at the last minute because I would have gone negative if I hadn’t, and you can’t go negative! It was the Holy Spirit telling me it’s ok to buy my diabetic husband Skittles just this once because he just had surgery!

Not all stores allow overage, but I’ve spoken with a few managers at three of our local stores, and they all said that they DO allow overage, as long as it doesn’t go negative (as would have been the case here if I hadn’t gotten that pack of Skittles.) I’ve written before about using overage to save on other items, and this is a really good example right here. I used the overage from the pasta and vitamins to pay for the soup, gelato, cereal, beans, cereal bars, and candy.

Publix was the really amazing one this week, but Kroger wasn’t too bad. Here’s that trip:
